The joys of living in deepest rural France.

There is also an alternative email address. However living in the wilds has many advantages and benefits.

The area around here is some of the least spoiled in France and is a nature reserve in its own right. The wild life here is astonishing with what we consider rare species at every turn.

Just looking at the butterflies you can sit on the patio and in their appropriate season have such species as the Swallowtail, the Scarce Swallowtail, Camberwell Beauty or Purple Emperor land on you

In the late summer and autumn the woods abound with the wild mushrooms you associate with French cooking and we collect ceps, chanterelle, pied de mouton, trompette de morte and many others.

When available we are pleased to provide you with our home produced bread, meat, eggs and vegatables.  Items such as full cream Jersey milk, cheese and butter can be obtained just up the road straight from the farm.

Should you feel like it we can also provide a meal for you perhaps on your return from a day out or for a celebration. This is by prior arrangement only. We have a small menu which ranges from a normal meal to a gastronomic blitz..... the common denominator being that we use our own produce  whenever possible.

There is a rustic barbecue on the island that is very good for those days when it is just too hot as there is always a breeze off the river and you can put your bottles in the river to keep cool. This is not to be recommended with champagne.

Whether you come for an energetic walking, biking or siteseeing holiday or just for a nice quite rest in the country you will be assured of a warm welcome from Tom and Joan.

We tend to discourage children under 14 as we think the is mill more suitable for adults but.... all children are different and we leave it up to you.

Looking forward to seeing you
